All of our instructors have passed rigorous exams given by the Imperial Society of the Teachers of Dance and the Fred Astaire Curriculum certification.

Dustin Jones (Owner / Instructor)

    Dustin Jones has brought his thoughtful and intense style of dance instruction to both novice and advanced students for more than ten years.  Dustin has been the co-owner and manager of the Youngstown Fred Astaire Dance Studio since 2002 and is one of the youngest Fred Astaire Franchise owners.  Having danced since the tender age of five, he is, himself, the consummate student and is forever polishing his craft.  As a nationally certified ballroom instructor and winner of numerous awards, he is a valued member of the Fred Astaire dance team.

Travis Manero (Owner / Manager)

    Travis Manero is from Niles, Ohio. He has won many Regional and National dance competitions, specializing in the rhythm dances. Besides being a professional Ballroom dancer he is trained in many styles of dancing including Tap, Jazz, and Ballet. Travis has worked professionally as a feature dancer for the Jean Ann Ryan Production Company and the Peter Grey Terhune Production Company. When not performing and traveling, Travis teaches, choreographs, and is the Owner/Manager at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Boardman, Ohio.
     Most recently, Travis and his professional partner Kristin Dobson have been competing professionally around the country at various Ballroom Dance Competitions. They are the current Ohio Regional Fred Astaire Rhythm Champions.

Kristin Dobson (Instructor)

     Kristin Dobson is from Warren, Ohio. She has been performing and competing in dance since the young age of 4. Her love for the art has lead her to train in many styles of dance such as Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Musical Theater, Hip-Hop, Gymnastics, and Ballet. Although she enjoys every style, it is her passion for ballroom that had brought her to become a professional Ballroom Dancer. Kristin has worked professionally as a feature ballroom dancer for the Peter Grey Terhune Production Company, which literally took her around the world at the age of 20. When she isn't performing and traveling, she instructs at the FADS in Boardman, Ohio. Kristin is also certified as a Zumba Instructor.
     Most recently, Kristin and her professional partner Travis Manero have been competing professionally around the country at various Ballroom Dance Competitions. They are the current Ohio Regional Fred Astaire Rhythm Champions.

Matt Moore (Instructor)

    
As an active duty Marine, Matthew Moore discovered ballroom dancing while stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC. The local USO taught swing dance lessons that provided Matt with a social outlet that was hard to find. His hobby quickly grew into a passion and after his Honorable Discharge, Matt returned home to Warren, OH.

      He began teaching for Fred Astaire in 2001 and enjoys helping others discover their own dance ability. "Ballroom Dancing brought me to my wife and has made my life exciting!" states Matt; "I want others to share my passion and experience the life-changing process dance provides."

     Having won numerous regional awards and having helped his students win many awards, Matt's experience and patience are sought-out and appreciated by all students, both advanced and novice. Come in and take a lesson and you too will feel his passion for dance.

Chelsea Cherie (Instructor)

     Chelsea was 5 years old when she had her first lessons in Tap, Jazz, and Ballet.  At age 16, she started belly dancing and has performed on stage with platinum artist Pavlo and still does tours with the band to this day. 

     Currently, her main focus is teaching and competing in Ballroom dancing.  She and her professional dance partner, Brandon Barker, recently competed in Columbus, Ohio and received the title of  Fred Astaire's Regional Theater Arts Champions.

Brandon Barker (Instructor)

     At the age of six, Brandon and his younger sister began their competitive dance career in Florida.  He went on to teach at various studios sharing his passion for dance with many students. Brandon enjoys all styles of ballroom and recently hosted an exciting Argentine Tango workshop at our studio. 

     He and his professional dance partner, Chelsea Cherie, are dedicated to perfecting their Theater Arts choreography.  Recently, they won the title of Ohio Regional Theater Arts Champions at Fred Astaire's Regional Competition in Columbus, Ohio. 

George Hendricks (Dance Director)

     Having spanned over forty years, George Hendricks' dance career is a long and sterling one.  As an active dance director at our studio, he has been a guiding source of knowledge, experience, and inspiration to instructors and students alike.  Over the years, as both a teacher and a competitor, he has done it all.  His accomplishments include impressive appearances in all the major dance competitions where he claimed the title as professional U.S. Champion in both American and Theatrical styles.  As a revered instructor, award winning competitor, and respected competition judge, George continues to serve the dance community around the corner and around the world.
